Holistic Parenting: Caring for the Head, Heart, and Hand with Kenneth Smith

Wednesday, April 22, 2026

In Waldorf education, we are always working to educate the whole child. To understand and engage the child in a holistic and balanced way, we provide activities that support their threefold nature. Each day, we try to ensure that they are nourished in their head (thinking), in their heart (feeling), and in their hands (will). Understanding this all-round approach will help you support your child in finding a balance between these three inner aspects as they grow and develop.

Ken is the Director of the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training. He has been teaching in Waldorf schools and adult education for over 30 years.

Rhythm, Routines, and Rituals with Andrea Vander Plyum

Wednesday, April 29, 2026

The pace and unpredictability of modern life often impede steady rhythms, leaving children feeling overstimulated, unsettled, and without the grounding sense that the world is safe and dependable. Discover how rhythm, routine, and daily and seasonal rituals can be implemented, providing a deep sense of security and ease into children’s lives. Together, we will explore how to shape your days with gentle predictability so that you and your children may relax into the flow and activities of family life. We will learn how this supports emotional balance, trust, resilience, and healthy physical and mental development.

Andrea, founding board president of Berkeley Rose Waldorf School, taught as a grades teacher for over 15 years. She has authored three self-help books for young adults, including the bestseller, Respect, which has been translated into numerous languages.
