The Revelation of Formative Forces in the Young Child’s Drawings

An understanding and deep appreciation for the formative forces at work in the in-carnation processes of the young child is of tremendous importance to the work of Waldorf teaching. It is one of the foundation stones of Waldorf education upon which the curriculum and classroom activities are built.

For over four decades, Laurie Clark has been observing children’s drawings and gathering insights into the inner processes they reveal. She will share from her vast collection of drawings and video clips to unfold, step by step, the deep inner experiences that the child is having as they work to find their way into their bodies and onto the Earth.

Laurie’s work builds upon the research of Michaela Strauss, Audrey McAllen, and others. This is vital work that enables us to understand the archetypal journey of the child, observe the challenges that children today are working with, and find ways to provide much needed support. It lays the groundwork to understand the develop-mental processes that continue throughout childhood.
