Waldorf education was founded with the intention to prepare the younger generation with the capacities, awareness, and courage to meet the challenges of their time. Waldorf teachers are the brave souls who step up day after day, dedicating themselves to the cultivation of the hearts, minds, and goodwill of the next generation. In today’s world, children are bombarded with harmful technologies while vastly wealthy industries have been created to manipulate their young minds for gain and without concern for the inner harm such as addiction, distraction, lack of self worth, or for the disconnection and apathy they generate.

Waldorf teachers in their individual humanity stand as a bulwark for childhood—protecting and guiding, instilling insight and compassion as well as empathy and intentionality in their young charges. At the same time and with genuine interest, they educate their students in the academic necessities needed for further education and work. Waldorf teachers awaken a love for society and the world that will enable children to become active participants in the care of our planet. For 24 years, the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training has dedicated itself to helping those who want to become bold and effective Waldorf teachers. We believe that now, more than ever, Waldorf teacher preparation needs to be an in-depth, transformative, artistic, intensive, and life-affirming process.
