Berkeley Rose Waldorf School is seeking Waldorf-trained Early Childhood assistant teachers starting January 2021. Come work for a small and joyful Waldorf-inspired forest school in the open space forests and lands of Marin County.  This is an early childhood program — our students range between the ages of 3-6.  

We are seeking an assistant teacher who can work 3 days a week assisting a class of 4-5 year olds and possibly another one day a week assisting a class of 3-4 year olds.  Days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and possibly Fridays, from 8:30-2:00.  

Forest Friends is a Waldorf-inspired early childhood outdoor school that weaves together deep and magical nature connection experiences, ecological values, and Waldorf education in such a way that young children thrive.  We cultivate will forces, imagination, confidence, ecological wisdom, a deep sense of connection to place, and all the skills necessary to full development in early childhood.  Children in the Forest Friends program are immersed in a culture where kindness is celebrated and love flows strong–love of one another, love of the earth, and love of life itself.  

Our teacher to student ratio is very small, so we can really mentor each individual student (and keep them safe and thriving in the big wild).  For three year olds, the ratio is 1:3, for four year olds, the ratio is 1:4, etc.  

The ideal candidate will have some Waldorf education background, familiarity with Waldorf early childhood philosophy and methods, and a deep love of young children.  We also hope to find someone who feels very comfortable being outside in all kinds of weather (usually pretty mild around here) and who loves the natural world.  A positive attitude is important.  Naturalist knowledge and/or nature arts and crafts ideas would be a dream.  Nature connection mentoring experience could also be helpful, but not necessary.  Our hope is to find someone interested in assisting/training for the spring, who could then become a lead teacher for a Forest Friends (three year old) class in the fall.  (But if we can’t find that, we still need an assistant for this semester.) 

Assistant position pays $20-$25 hour, DOE.  Position available asap.  

Lead Teacher position (available in the fall, and possibly sooner) pays $35-$40/hour, DOE.  Position available by the fall, perhaps sooner, if desired.

San Francisco Waldorf High School

We are looking for a teacher to teach Metal Arts to a group of 13 students in January (hopefully taught partially in-person by then).  The students are 11th and 12th graders and have had a basic class already.  The class would be 15 lessons, spread out between January 11-March 22, 2021.  The days/times are Monday mornings, 10:15-11:30 and Friday afternoons, 1:30-3:20.  The hourly rate is $90.00 per lesson, which includes prep time and writing a very short grade evaluation at the end of the class.

The students would mostly like to create jewelry—setting stones for rings, designing pendants, earrings, or perhaps letter openers, small boxes or candle holders.  They have all had soldering experience.  This is an elective class and they are motivated.  We are looking for a teacher who can inspire beautiful quality work.

Greenwood Tree is a Waldorf-inspired educational cooperative in the rich farming community of the Skagit Valley (Washington State). This vibrant school seeks a caring, dedicated and experienced individual to lead our Second and Third grade split class (ages 7-9). This class is currently experiencing a low enrollment, however we anticipate it will continue to grow in the coming months.  The Teacher will guide the children through a Waldorf-inspired curriculum uniquely crafted to meet the needs of second and third grade students, building off of the concepts and skills covered in the student’s previous year of learning. Curriculum to include predominantly Language Arts and Math, with elements of History, Cultural Studies, and Science introduced within the framework of main lessons. Foreign Language, Fine Arts, Practical Arts, and handwork will also be worked into the weekly rhythm.  Our school and community prefer to follow the Waldorf style teaching method of using main lesson blocks to structure lessons, which allows each student to immerse themselves in the topic of study and create their own “text book” based on a personal experience of a subject or lesson. The Teacher will orchestrate the rhythm of the day by leading the children through each activity and the associated transition periods. They will make every effort to utilize the diverse resources and talents of the parents to enrich the program. The Teacher is responsible for seeking out and using such talents, and for creating a climate in which parents will volunteer their skills.
