Hummingbirds’ Collaborative School

Hummingbirds’ Collaborative School is a nonprofit bilingual Waldorf Inspired school emphasizing sensory integration and growth mindset to stimulate the imagination, develop fine and gross motor skills and executive function. Hummingbirds’ Collective is initiating a new paradigm of education in hopes to bring Waldorf education to the masses. They are seeking the following:

Aftercare Teacher Positions (starting in July 2020) 12:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Early Childhood Co-Lead Teachers needed during this summer starting on June 15th and into the school year 2020-21. 

Grades teachers 1-5 to be part of a new homeschooling/parent and teacher collaboration team starting on August 17th. This collaboration will include two menu options for parents to choose from. 

Menu Option A:

The grades teacher to be assigned to 6-8 families for the school year educating the student through social distancing in-classroom settings (on campus) 3 times a week as well as 2 days a week on distance learning. Subject teachers will also be included into the school week to provide other classes.

River Oak Charter School (ROCS), located in the beautiful Ukiah valley, is a community of educators and families committed to guiding children toward a life-long love of learning, creative thinking and a responsible and sympathetic interest in the world. ROCS is currently chartered under Ukiah Unified School District of Mendocino County and has been operating since 1999. ROCS has demonstrated sound fiscal management by producing and executing a balanced budget every year, while supplementing state funding with a modest fundraising program. This additional funding supports a wide range of specialty classes including handwork, band, painting, strings, chorus, woodwork, foreign language, and movement.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Superintendent/Principal must have a strong personal commitment to the school’s mission and vision. We are looking for a positive, passionate, energetic leader who is friendly, warm and welcoming, and able to relate well to staff, students, and parents. We seek a creative leader who can build on the program in place and collaborate with all involved to strengthen an already strong program. The Superintendent/Principal is responsible for administering the Charter School in all day-to-day operations, as well as facilitating the planning and implementation of long-range goals for the School.

QUALIFICATIONS: : Five years of responsible teaching experience, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree and a valid California Administrative Services Credential are required, and financial expertise is expected. Highly desirable: Waldorf Administration & Leadership training; Waldorf Teaching Certificate; public service experience.

The Kindergarten Assistants help to educate students in an environment and manner that nurtures and guides them, with consideration for the needs of each individual child and the class as a whole. The Kindergarten Assistants shall work as much as possible from the indications of Waldorf philosophy and integrate Waldorf methods with other current best educational practices.

It is expected that the Assistant’s classroom hours are 7:45am to 1pm, Mon – Fri during the school year.

The Kindergarten Assistant is responsible for procuring supplies for snacks/food for the classroom. An account exists for each kindergarten to be used for purchasing food for snacks, and it is the Assistant’s responsibility to maintain receipts from all purchases and turn these in to the school bookkeeper on a regular basis. These duties may be scheduled at the Assistant’s convenience, outside of school hours. It is expected that duties related to snack shopping will take approximately 3 hours per week. These hours are additional to the classroom hours the assistant works.
Pay is $26,500 per year. Position is eligible for health care, dental and retirement benefits.
