“I am so glad I came!”
“Another first-class experience. Inspiration!”
“The week was both the necessary relaxation and rejuvenation that I needed. The balance of thought provocation and artistic stimulation was perfect. The food was delicious. The instructors were well prepared and capable of guiding.”
My summer with the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training has become a stimulating and intense month in my year, when I leave behind the clear winter skies of New Zealand to cross the vast Pacific Ocean and touch down in the heat of the Californian summer.
It is a time to be immersed with students and colleagues in the questions and struggles of our time and to experience the light and direction that artistic work out of anthroposophy can provide.
I place great value on what can take place in the sculpture studio, where the atmosphere of creativity and searching allows participants to connect to the more subtle aspects of themselves. The straw bale studio, with its thick walls and high ceilings, provides a density, solidity and quiet, well suited to the sculpting that takes place there.
This year we are offering a two-week sculpture intensive. I often meet people who feel connected to sculpture, who recognise the effect working strongly with form-giving forces has upon them, and sense that it can be their way to go forward. This is an opportunity to take a further step in sculptural work, deepening and exploring the essence of sculpture, gaining skills, confidence and understanding.
