Lead Teacher/Program Coordinator

The Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training is seeking a permanent, full-time Lead Teacher/Program Coordinator to participate in all teaching and administrative aspects of delivering high quality training to our students. Our Program has a core vision of and commitment to teaching out of a deep relationship to Anthroposophy, ongoing self-development and an active participation in the arts.

The Bay Area Center, based in Marin County, CA, provides a part-time, three­year course of studies which qualifies its graduates to teach in Waldorf kindergartens, grades schools and high schools throughout the country.

The Lead Teacher/Program Coordinator will work closely with the Bay Area Center’s director, Ken Smith, to:

• Teach courses in curriculum studies
• Teach courses in anthroposophical studies
• Co-carry the overall administration of the program
• Organize and oversee course documentation
• Organize and co-carry assemblies and program events
• Develop and implement outreach activities

The Ideal applicant for this position will have:

• Recent teaching experience in a Waldorf School
• A proven ability work with adults who are preparing for a career in teaching
• A thorough grounding in the anthroposophical underpinnings of Waldorf education
• Administrative and organizational skills
• Enthusiasm for and a positive approach to meeting the challenges of training Waldorf Teachers
• A bachelor’s degree or higher

The Bay Area Center holds weekend classes on Friday evenings and Saturdays for 30 weekends from September through May on the campus of the East Bay Waldorf School, CA. Four weeks of full-time intensive classes are held from mid-June to mid-July at the Marin Waldorf School, CA.

This position involves 32 hours of administrative work per week in our San Rafael office and 8 hours of teaching during the school year plus 4 weeks full-time teaching during the summer session.

This is a full time position with benefits. Salary commensurate with experience.
