Biodynamic and organic farms abound in this temperate zone, and we have many farmers in our school community. We are located an hour from the Pacific Crest Trail, and about two hours from Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta, Stout Redwood Grove, and the California and Oregon coasts.

About Rosebud Preschool:
We are a Waldorf preschool with a curriculum based on the “living arts,” such as gardening, cooking, baking bread, and cleaning. We start our day with a morning walk around the campus, followed by outdoor free play in the rain or shine. We then transition to our inside time with snack, circle time, free play, art and cooking projects, lunch, finishing the morning with storytime. Some children leave at 12:45 and some stay for rest time until 3:30. We have 12 children who all attend Monday-Thursday.
About the Assistant Teacher Position:
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting an age-appropriate Waldorf curriculum for a mixed-aged classroom of 3-5 year olds. This includes supporting the lead teacher during weekly circle times, story times, and seasonal art projects. The assistant guides the children in cooking the daily meals, preparing the table for lunch, and cleaning the room after the meal. The assistant teacher also attends the bi-monthly parent evenings, as well as attends the bi-annual parent/teacher conferences. The assistant and the lead teacher meet outside of preschool hours for 1-2 each week to prepare for the coming week, discuss curriculum and the work with the children.
Minimum Professional Requirements:
The Preschool Assistant Teacher must comply with Community Care Licensing qualifications for Assistant Teacher, which include: -High school graduation and 6 semester units at an accredited college in specified early childhood education classes, which shall include courses that cover the area of “Child Growth and Development, “Child, Family and Community, and “Curriculum.” If teacher does not already have these he/she may be enrolled over the summer or start of school year.
-Must also possess a current pediatric CPR and First Aid by a training program certified by the American Red Cross. -The Assistant Teacher must also obtain a fingerprints clearance through Department of Justice for Child Abuse Index Check and Criminal Record Statement.
-The Lead Teacher must provide proof of a Health Screening by a MD as well as a current negative TB Test. Compensation: The hours of this position are Monday-Thursday 8:00-1:00, with a 1-2 teacher meeting in addition to hours with children. There are also work hours for parent evenings, festivals and parent/teacher conferences. Compensation commensurate with experience.
