About The Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training

The Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training was founded in 2001 by students seeking an in-depth Waldorf teacher program. The Center offers a Waldorf Teacher Training Certificate Program during the academic year; a Summer Arts Festival featuring courses in the arts and Waldorf pedagogy in the summer; and Community Enrichment Classes, Workshops, and Lectures throughout the year.

Our primary focus is a three-year course of study which leads to certification. A new course of study begins each school year and includes both part-time weekend sessions (Friday evenings and Saturday mornings) September through May and full-time summer sessions (end of June to the end of July) at the East Bay Waldorf School.

Our Summer Arts Festival includes courses for young people [Acrobat pdf - 1.3MB], intensive art classes, workshops in Waldorf pedagogy for current Waldorf professionals, and courses such as ‘Waldorf for Grownups’ for the general public.

Throughout the year, we present classes, lectures, and workshops on topics related to anthroposophical studies, pedagogy, the arts, and current events as part of our Community Enrichment offerings.

Graduates of the certificate program are qualified to teach in any of over 1400 Waldorf schools worldwide at the pre-school, kindergarten, grade school, and high school levels. They are recognized as strong members of their school communities. Their thorough grounding in the arts and anthroposophy enables them to take on active roles in their schools and larger communities..

Scholarships, student loans, stipends and work study are available. We work with prospective students individually to arrange affordable payments. Inquiries welcome.
